More evidence around how powerful the 'Fight or Flight' and 'Reward' functions of the brain are. We have evolved to find patterns in our experiences - to seek that which has rewarded us in the past and avoid that which hasn't. And often our brains are responding to said stimuli before we are consciously aware. Free won't rather than free will!
This points to why trying to change habits 'cognitively' can be so hard - the 'problem' lies in a deeper part of the brain. It's also why different therapies can be effective such as Hypnosis, BWRT, TFT as they work with the brain in a very different way!
